I am a working mum of three very untidy children. Although not sure if 18 still qualifies as a child? but then again from their actions its a yes! I really enjoy most crafts and tend to be enthusiastic but not always competent!!

Sugar Bowl 3 Love & Romance

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Just a quick post as I need to be up and about as I am going to a stamping class this morning - how I like days like this !!! . I managed a quick card last night in between sorting pants and socks - my bed did have a strange mix of items on it ! It is for the Sugar Bowl Challenge 3 - the theme being Love & Romance I used Leanne Ellis stamp from Sugar Nellie coloured with pro markers, heart - rose pink and ivory, dress & flower lime, ivory & rose, stockings & boots ivory & cornflower, hair cinnamon. Card stock is Papermania and papers Imaginese. Sentiment is from a Papermania set which I double stamped and cut out - but cut a bit too much and had to colour the bottom pink card as well. No card of mine ever complete without a bodge somewhere!

Pink velvety (is that a word?) brads Doodlebug and ribbon and charm from stash.

Have a lovely Saturday - my shower awaits.....

Basic Grey Challenge

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Hope you are having a happy Tuesday ! I wish I knew if I was (yes another pre programmed post as I made the card in Sunday!) . I found the challenge over at Basic Grey blog hopping and this week it is a "recipe" 1 ribbon, bow & button, two papers & three brads. You have to include i item from the Basic Grey range and my contribution to this is the brads ! I need to find a local stockist - If anyone is from the Gloucestershire/Wiltshire area and knows somewhere please leave me a comment!. Green dot paper is from a DOcraft Christmas set and the brown paisley is from a now discontinued Sizzix set. Ribbon & button is from stash. Sentiment is from Hero Arts

Used promarkers colours are ruby and satin dress, stockings vanilla & satin, hair blush, satin & vanilla. Not overly happy with how the colours have come out - I do have problems with my camera and only a very basic editing suite eg trim & auto adjust!!!.
Having reread some of my posts I wonder if I will ever make something that is not either fudged, or that I don't find fault with?????????

Stampavie v's Magnolia

Monday, January 26, 2009

Oh how I like weekends with nothing to do apart from craft!! Well not strictly true but have ignored the ironing, washing & tumbling for a whole weekend and have fished out ready meals from the outside freezer. Using the excuse of running it down to clean..... given I can't ever remember defrosting it I don't know who I am kidding!!!. I know this post is on Monday but I have pre-timed so it looks like I am productive in the week however my comments about not being a goddess of domesticity have let the cat out of the bag!!

The theme at http://magnoliameetsstampavie.blogspot.com/ is Double Trouble and you have to include two stamps from either range. I used a very simple layout ( not creative enough!) with K&Co Papers, brads from stash (and mashed about 4 before I realised that I could change the bottom plate in my big kick - I wish I could do things right first time - but destined I think to always learn from experience.......) The sentiment is I think a Scrappy Cat one.

I coloured in with pro markers Lilac & Lavender Blossom & Satin on the trousers, Satin & Lime Green on her shoes, Blossom & lime green top, Hair is mustard & vanilla. If anyone knows a good combination to get a blonde look please let me know as I am not really happy with mine. Nice & easy is soo much quicker!!

And finally the inside - using more "Sale" die cuts. For once I'm glad my camera does not take great photos as the inside is defiantly a bit ropey!

Have a good week everyone

Sketch Saturday

Sunday, January 25, 2009

An early ish post from me today as I was able to finish a card I started yesterday for the challenge at http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/ . Its a fab sketch to work with and I was able to use another of Rachelle Anne Miller stamps (Funky kits). Cardstock Papermania, Papers are K&Co, ribbon is doodle bug & no idea for the brads!. Flowers are again home made using a sizzlit die with a nestability circle

I coloured in with pro makers pastel green, lime green, lilac dress, lilac & lavender trousers, blossom and pastel pink shoes, hair cinnamon & vanilla. The sentiment is from a Scrappy Cat set from Hobby Craft

Inside of the card was using my nestabilities set - I bought the small circles & rectangles but find the size a bit limiting for my stamps so looks like the larger set may be of more use - will have to wait until May when I can put on birthday list!!

I wanted to try to go all around the stripy paper with my border punch but couldn't and ended up cutting so much off - that in the end I gave up. Will have to practise on newspaper given the amount I know I will need! Have a restful Sunday.
Hugs

Valentine ?

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Yippee a free Saturday with time to craft. Daughter away in Wales again so I have taken over her bedroom - and my goodness I can see where the children get their untidiness from!!. Her room really does look like a paper bomb has gone off! But how nice just to shut the door and know I can start again tomorrow... I decided to make a valentine card and wanted to use red & white as they are my favourite colour combination - but no red card:(. So picked a pack of papers (K&Co) shut my eyes and fanned through and stopped at this pretty blue and cream. I also used paper mania brown as the base ( not too happy with this card as when I score the card tends to tear - must be more gentle!). I used for the first time a Simon & Lola stamp from Sugar Nellies

coloured in with promarkers, pastel blue, vanilla, cinnamon, henna & ivory. I made the flower using a new sizzix die (bought a few too many in the great Sizzix sale!) & stash ribbon.

I have started to decorate the inside of cards having been inspired by both Bev & Rachel. This page has the same papers - used heart Friskars border punch and words are from an old stamp set
The final page is yet another of the new dies - Next month absolutely NOOOOOOOO craft stuff and couldn't think of anything suitably romantic so left it blank!. Off now & looking forward to some sparkly wine and chocolate and Casualty

123 Tilda Atc Challenge

Thursday, January 22, 2009

A very quick post as all I have more work to do :(. This is my go at the challenge over at http://tildaandfriends.blogspot.com/ . This week you have to create an ATC that has 1 button 2 ribbons & 3 flowers. I used a Magnolia stamp which originally has Tilda holding a rose and cut it out so I could use some very old flowers ( I did have to dust!) Papers are K & Co and stash ribbon & button. I coloured in using my promarkers, meadow green, moss, pastel blue for the dress and pastel blue & ivory on her stockings . I think I might use this as a topper on a valentine card at the weekend hopefully!!

Sugar Bowl 2 or should that be three?

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Its the second challenge over at http://www.sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com/ and this week the theme is Three - three different design papers and three different types of embellishments on your cards no more no less
I used one of the Leanne Ellis stamps and can't wait for the rest to come back into stock at Sugar Nellies as new year resolution be away with you!. My three papers were two from one of the Papermania Christmas black & white range and I stamped my own for the pink My three embellishments were the raffia, flower (from a hat I rummaged in one of my local charity shops and I added a Doodlebug brad. I used whisper pens and water brush thingy for the first time but not overly happy with the colouring but will keep practising as I would love to be able to get the subtle shading that I see on lots of talented peoples blogs.

I also decorated the inside of the card using left over scraps of card and the rest of the brads and spent an age stamping tiny silver dots.....
Had a good Saturday with my friend Irene as we went to a quilt shop in Swindon and spent the day making some small bags - and i can quite believe I put in a zip by hand. When I finish I will post but that might be a while yet as I have lots of UFO's! Off now to cook supper a bit late as card making took priority!!
Please take the time to comment - thanks x

Tilda & Friends ATC

Another working week almost over and then crafting time - yipee! My only productivity this week was to join in with the challenge over at http://tildaandfriends.blogspot.com/. The theme is something "sticky" and I was able to use a sticky heart to cover a sticky mess ! - the ink ran quick badly when I was colouring in with my promarkers, so quite grateful for theme. All the hearts are stickers, as is the ribbon and the raffia is stuck on as well - so hopefully this meets the requirement's!. I guess I will use again as a card topper unless anyone wants to swap?. I do like doing this challenge as it fits in well with work and I can usually sneak off early to bed and get little bits of craft stuff out to complete. Its almost the equivalent of a chocolate fix!!

Purple Phase ?

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Having used purple the other day I decided I would add to another ATC and use to make another quick card for a girl at work . The papers are K & Co, sentiment stamp is Hero Arts and I used Sizzix die for the scroll. Tiny buttons are stash and threaded with my Christmas raffia bargin 99p at The Range ( I love this stuff!!) but I did need to use my glasses.!

Have to go and blog hop ...

Recycling!

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Been a little bit green today in that I needed a quick card for one of daughters friends and used the ATC I made for the Tilda & friends challenge. I decided I would change the background colour to purple - which is the friends favourite colour - but it doesn't seem to show up too well. I used stash red ribbon which was bought for Christmas but...... and again peel offs ... will have to go shopping at the weekend. Thank you for looking

Mum's Birthday

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Have had an early start as I need to be up early to drive & collect daughter from Wales. So will be off in a minute - Its a four hour round trip so will have to be organised. Just finished off a card for my Mums birthday. Its not until the 21st January but am feeling super sanctimonious & prepared... now if only I had washed the uniforms.... still crafting priorities first!!!

I used Papermania papers, Daisy stamp from Sugar Nellies, coloured with promarkers, meadow green, pastel blue, cool grey2(jeans) lilac, lavender(top), mustard & satin (hair) and blossom & lavender flowers, brads were from stash . I also has to use peel-offs for the sentiment as I can't believe I don't have a happy birthday stamp....mmm the need to purchase is quite strong.......

Must dash...

Sugar Bowl

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Another productive day and I have been using my new Sugar Nellie stamps. I did splash out and buy 6 as I couldn't decide which one to get.... me thinks I'd better get to the bank statement first!!.

Have also entered another challenge over at http://www.sugarbowlblog.blogspot.com/ Again used stash papers, coloured with promakers, cool aqua, ruby, cool grey, cinnamon & satin and used hero arts ticket stamp as well. I did have a bit of difficulty with the size in trying to accommodate the sketch and as a result o think I "went large!" and will have to make a special envelope!!

1st Sketch Saturday

Two posts in a day - you can tell I have done absolutely no housework and how good a day its been. I have stayed in my daughters bedroom and have crafted ALL DAY. Mind you there is one downside I have blown my diet as I also haven't cooked and as a consequence have snacked all the time ... but even that was really enjoyable!

I have found a challenge at http://sketchsaturday.blogspot.com/ whilst looking at other lovely blogs and have decided to take part. I used my new Leanne Ellis stamp from Sugar Nellie and stash papers coloured with ruby, blush, vanilla & satin promarkers.

I also decided to decorate the inside of the card as the dark brown looked too bare.

I have seen this done so beautifully by Rachel over at http://papercraftsbyrach.blogspot.com/. Check out her blog she does some fantastic work - wish I was half as talented! Having looked at some of the submissions I need to practise more ... Yippee more Saturdays like this!!

Tilda & Friends

Well, its been back to work & school week, so manic as ever!. This has meant no crafting:( apart from last night, when I decided as all the children where elsewhere and OH was going to be late, I would indulge. I have taken over my daughters bedroom (she is away for the weekend - so not really a selfish mum!) and have all my craft boxes around me. I am sitting on her bed with a camping table in front of me pc to the right, radio on, cup of tea to my left and absolute chaos on the floor!. Bits of card, paper, ribbon, die cuts, stamps, inks all around - absolute heaven....... oh and I have managed to make something as well!!.

I have been waiting for the the atc challenge over at http://tildaandfriends.blogspot.com/ which started again on the 7th. This year there is a change and you are now allowed to use all different kinds of craft on your ATCs, as long as the overall effect remains cute. This week the theme is "New Stuff" and I have to admit my ATC is completely new...... stamp, Papermania papers, sizzix die, promarkers, charm, & even the raffia. I like Christmas presents (especially the ones you get yourself!!). I really like the challenge as I love Magnolia stamps and the DT have some lovely ideas please take a look.

Off now to play some more "new stuff" - my Sugar Nellie stamps have arrived.. Yippee!!

Happy New Year

Thursday, January 1, 2009

Wishing you all a happy 2009 with lots of crafting opportunities!

Have had a very quiet New Years Day as the boys didn't get back until 3pm and went very quickly to bed and haven't surfaced..... I'm guessing they had a "big night" last night!. It might have been quiet but very enjoyable as I spent a lot of time blog hopping - oh and also breaking one of my new years resolutions (to buy only one stamp a month)..... I found sugarnellie.blogspot.com and as a result am now waiting for 6 pieces of their "sugar" to arrive!

Have also taken part in the January sketch challenge I found about from http://cheryllrowley.blogspot.com/ . I'm not too sure if what I have done is totally correct but I had a pleasant time doing it. Actually had a bit of a nightmare in that I craft on my bed (not much room in my house!) and I dropped the stazon pad on my duvet cover and yes you guessed it - black ink side down on white cover... anyone any ideas how I can get it off???
